That's the beauty of it all: When people say it's not about the money, but are all too quick to take the $3009123978053242389017.45 that their lawyers won for them.

If it wasn't about the money, they'd ask for enough money to cover incurred expenses (lawyer and court fees, hospital bills and damages if applicable, etc.) and nothing more.

I disagree.

Many a time, the only way to make a wealthy corporation learn their lesson is to hit them in the finances.

I don't think it works as well as it should, as evidenced by tabloid rags.

However... many celebs that sue these rags take that money and donate it to charity, usually one involving teaching real journalism.

If you're gonna take a shitload of money, fine, so be it, but don't turn around and tell the world that it wasn't about the money.

I'd love if just once, just once someone came out and said "Yeah I did it for the money, you got something to say about it?"

That would renew my faith in at least a segment of humanity

The defendant would probably be quick to give the plaintiff their way, if the plaintiff didn't want any money out of it.
