I wanted this to be a different entry since it focuses on a completely different subject. That would of course be the subject of girls, and how I am still clueless when it comes to dealing with them. Here's a situation, and if anyone has any advice on it, please resopnd:

You're working at a new job for a couple months, and one day while working on another floor (your job is as a student assistant in IT services, fixing computers) you see a girl working at the front desk who looks about your age. This is not only significant because there aren't a lot of people your age working here (Dept. or Parks & Rec) but even less girls, but because she's really cute. Over the next couple weeks when you have occassion to be down there you fall into a pattern of making eye contact and smiling at each other, until finally you summon the courage to actually talk to her and find out her name. Then for another couple weeks you gradually increase your conversation until every time you have reason to pass by you stop to say a few words. You take your shot - you ask her to go to lunch with you one day when you are both at work for the entire day. There is no definite answer until the following day, but she agrees and the two of you have lunch nearby, talking the entire time you are out. You have her laughing quite a bit and things go rather well. You write her an e-mail thanking her for going and impressing her with the fact that you snagged the address out of a passing conversation piece. Her reply is playful, but reserved. Now, every time you see her you talk a little bit more, learn a little bit more, flirt a little bit more. A week later you ask her out. You are shot down but in a manner which doesn't quite hold with the tradition. The answer is vague and refers often to someone called "my man". Before you take your leave of her for the day, she asks that you come see her tomorrow - which happens to be Valentine's Day. On the morning of Valentine's, she sends you a quick email "just to say hi" and you in turn create a Blue Mountain friendly valentine for her which she laters tells you is cute (or was it sweet?). By this time you notice that every day, when you see her for the first time, she smiles big like she is happy to see you. The following day there is obvious flirting on her part, but you are only in the building shortly so a quick conversation is the extent for the day.

This is about where I'm at right now. And it's confusing the hell out of me. She obviously is seeing someone, but in no way has there been any indication that she would not be interested in seeing me, and in fact I think her attitude towards me has improved since I have let it be known that I like her. Some friends have already mused over the situation and have come to the conclusion that she likes me as well, but the exact circumstances are still new to me. Anyone have any opinions? There is quite a lot to say on the subject, but this is a good summary.
