Got a new chain mail hoax in the mail this morning. Its a good one,… - Speak Friend and Enter
Grammar and Lord of the Rings
Got a new chain mail hoax in the mail this morning. Its a good one, because it modifies the details, but retains the exact same story - its major downfall. It took me a good 15 minutes to track down the source of it. Here's the text:

"Ok, a couple of days ago, my son, he's 7 years old, his name is Kalin. Well, he was playing on the street, infront of our house, and then from out of no where, this car came out and crashed into him! I was sooo frightened and angered at the driver, but it ended out to be, that the drivers brakes had been shot, and he wasn't able to stop. Luckily, my son, was able to avoid death, but he is in very serious condition. Right now, as I speak, he's in the hospital, but the thing is, he has the serious injury to himself. It's internal bleeding, and it's bad to say, but we don't have any health insurance, and we don't have enough money to pay for the operation. So I made a deal with a company, BCC inc. And they told me, for every person that will foward this email, he'll donate 5 cents To the operation. THIS IS NO JOKE. We attached this type of encoding, that tracked how many times this message was fowarded. SO PLEASE, FOWARD THIS LETTER TO EVERY PERSON ON YOUR LIST. IT WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Now, the original uses American names and claims to be from Alambama, while the one I got referenced a family in FUCKING MALAYSIA.

A good line from the one I got, but I'm not sure at which point it was added:

"P/S: no matter this message is true or false, for me, i rather believe it to be true as if you don't believe it, YOU MAY DESTROY A LIFE, A LITTLE GIRL....."

Wow, that is a good line. Its really sad, though, when a person is more willing to simply believe this shit because they are being told they will be responsible for killing someone, then to spend 15 minutes and look it up.

So, if you see this, or any similar one, ITS FAKE. For the record - There is no technology that can track the number of times an email has been forwarded. Companies do not make donations of cents on the dollar for every forward. Get a clue.

This is your public service message for today.
