			Why is it that when I plug the cable from my stereo into the Line Out… - Speak Friend and Enter Grammar and Lord of the Rings

	Why is it that when I plug the cable from my stereo into the Line Out port on my sound card, I can listen to mp3s through the stereo, but when I plug the same cable into the Line In port, I can't record stuff to the hard drive? (Speaking strictly in terms of cabling here - the software I have, I just don't know why it's not picking it up)

Maybe you need a different type of wire. Or plug one from the line-out of the stereo into the microphone jack of the back of your computer, and that SHOULD work. There's no reason it shouldn't. Try a different recorder. I've found that TotalRecorder works well. You can get it from, I think, Tucows.com.
