you can take that as a big sigh of relief, or a primal yell. both would probably work about now.

so i find myself on the verge of a 3 1/2 day weekend with nothing in particular to do. i'm thinking i want to go the monterey aquarium tomorrow because it won't be the weekend yet and i've got the whole day. see, the whole company is moving to rancho cordova (well, the very west side of it) over the next few days and my unit is getting friday and the first half of monday off of work. which is nice. it was pretty hectic getting everything packed and such but that's over with. the sorta good news is that i have an assigned desk at the new building, as i'm scheduled for promotion. the rest of that news, which isn't so good, is that i have to spend an additional 3 weeks or so spending half the day doing my clerk duties and half the day training to move up. this is because nobody is confident that my proteges are ready to take over the responsibility of the job yet. i can't really argue with it, but i'm disappointed because i was under the impression that the move would signal my official move-up.

but it's ok. my friend nick put my resume in at his work where they are hiring a level 2 tech support person and are looking to fill it before the end of the month. i think i'm qualified so i was looking forward to see what might happen. i'd rather not keep working where i am if i can get back into tech support. anyway today he notified me that as far as he knows, nobody inside the company has applied and i'm the only referral. apparently they have to wait 10 days before they consider outside applicants and that ends tuesday. at the moment it looks like assuming i meet the qualifications, i have an excellent shot. it's a lot more money than what i make right now and work i enjoy. HOW WEIRD WOULD THAT BE.
