I am way too cynical
Here is the deal. I for one know that I am a much more open person when I am talking to people online. For various reasons, not the least of which is that I am allowed a greater comfort in being myself and not worrying as much about how I present myself, seeing as how the other person can't see me (disregarding such technological marvels as webcams for the moment). Also, when you are talking to a person face to face, emotional responses to certain things are evident immediately, and honestly conveyed. This is lost online.

damn....have to leave for class in a few minutes......

My simple point is this: my cynical nature tends to be suspicious of all the wonderfulness that I see online at times. OK, to be specific, LJ'ers, and they're seemingly unending well of compliments and friendliness. Someone out there is just trying to get some. By acting all sweet and un-manly in an informal medium, they can play a different side of themselves. Wow. Where do I come up with this stuff? I suppose what I'm trying to say is that not everything is so different in the world of the internet. Guys will still do what they can to hit on a girl they think is hot. It's just that some of the techniques have to change because of the nature in which they are being put forth.

Anyone follow? Being cynical is a pain sometimes. And now I have to go to class. I will write more.....
